Fantasy Analysis

Williams has played in just three games this season due to injury and this will be the first time in his career he hasn't played at least 15 games. He was a low-end Fantasy DB, but his loss hurts more for the Cowboys DST. Wade Phillips is once again taking over playcalling duties on defense, so even with the loss of Williams, the Cowboys might be able to turn it around. Treat the Cowboys DST as a possible bye-week Fantasy replacement Week 8 going up against the Bucs.

Roy Williams headed home to Texas on Tuesday in the NFL's biggest trade before the deadline, giving the struggling Dallas Cowboys another proven receiver opposite Terrell Owens.

Cowboys SS Roy Williams had a rough offseason with Dallas talking about his poor play. Maybe it will motivate him to have a big season, but likely he will not live up to the hype of his name recognition. Last year, Williams posted OK tackle stats (92 total) but doesn't cause many turnovers and gets beat in coverage. He will still start for the Cowboys, but he should be considered a low-end No. 3 DB in IDP leagues with minimal upside. Take him with a late-round pick.
